Big things are coming to Zenless Zone Zero. With Version 1.7, we're not just getting another patch, this marks the start of Season 2. The dev team just dropped a full ZZZ season 2 Dev Talk revealing their plans. We're getting a massive new area packed with deep lore, major factions stepping into the spotlight, and a full shift toward Version 2.0, kicking off ZZZ's second year. And with a zzz teaser trailer dropping on April 13, the hype is only getting started. If you've been falling behind, now's the perfect time to start grinding. For endless AFK farming, play ZZZ with OSLink. If you're ready to explore what Zenless Zone Zero Season 2 may bring, let's start.

Zenless Zone Zero Season 2

Exploring Waifei Peninsula & Failume Heights

So we're getting a brand new area in Season 2, a fresh part of New Eridu called the Waifei Peninsula . This place isn't just some random new map. It's got its own vibe, dangers, and major story importance. Waifei Peninsula was originally a Hollow monitoring outpost, but it's grown into something much bigger.

Exploring Waifei Peninsula & Failume Heights

Here’s what makes it special:

  • Failume Heights : A cliffside city with amazing views and deep lore.

  • Porcelume mining : This rare material resists Ether Corruption and drives most of the region's industry (and conflict).

  • Lemnian Hollow : A dangerously unstable Hollow zone nearby, expect weird stuff and tough enemies.

  • Faction power struggles : Everyone wants a piece of Porcelume, so the area's full of tension and hidden agendas.

On top of that, we'll be heading into the Aerospace City , a ruined zone that's partly swallowed by the Hollow. Only the edges are stable enough to explore, but even those are packed with story hooks and dangerous potential. With new environments, new factions fighting over resources, and a whole bunch of secrets waiting to be uncovered, this region is going to be a huge part of the Season 2 experience.

Factions in the Spotlight

Season 2 isn’t just bringing new places, it’s also shining a light on some of the most anticipated factions in Zenless Zone Zero. Here’s who’s stepping into the spotlight:

Factions in the Spotlight

Yunkui Summit

We’re getting to meet Yixuan, the mysterious leader of Yunkui Summit, and yep, she’s the same Wayseeker in the yellow cape teased earlier. Not just showing up, she’s taking a mentor role, training the protagonists directly and helping them dive deeper into Hollow exploration.

  • Acts as a guide in Season 2’s main story

  • Has a connection to Juufuu, her disciple from Lost Void

  • Might be tied to the wing imagery seen in earlier visions

This faction will play a big part in how we learn to navigate the new dangers in the Hollows.

Obol Squad

You probably know Soldier 11 by now, but in Season 2, we’re getting way more from the Obol Squad as a whole. This faction of elite Defense Force agents is getting fleshed out with new members and more background lore.

  • Trigger, an off-field agent, recently debuted

  • Other members like Captain Maggus, Seed, and Orpheus are being hinted at

  • Ties in with older side events and current Trust missions

Expect more character moments, especially if you’ve been following Soldier 11’s arc. The squad dynamic is coming into full view.

Angels of Delusion

The long-rumored idol faction is finally official, the Angels of Delusion are stepping into the main story. First teased pre-launch, they’ve been hinted at in posters and events all year long, and now they’re ready to take the stage.

  • Virtual idol faction with flashy, possibly mind-bending vibes

  • Tied to Snap and Astra in past story events

  • Could be linked to Hollow tech and manipulation

How they fit into the bigger picture is still a mystery, but one thing’s for sure, they’re not just here to sing.

Storyline Revelations and Deeper Lore

Things are about to get way more personal in Season 2. We’re finally peeling back some of the big mysteries that have been brewing since the start of ZZZ. The devs aren’t just expanding the world, they’re digging into the heart of the story, and some long-standing questions are finally getting answers. Here’s what’s getting revealed (or at least teased) this time.

Storyline Revelations and Deeper Lore

Sarah’s true motives

We’ve seen Sarah involved in some shady stuff (like the Bringer and Sacrifice incidents), but in Season 2, her role is going deeper. It looks like she’s connected to the Exaltists, also known as “The Order”, a cult-like group obsessed with Hollows.

  • She may be working with or for them

  • Her actions might tie into events like the Arpeggio Fault mission

  • She could be directly linked to the fall of the old capital

The Exaltists (a.k.a. The Order)

This mysterious group seems to be the real puppet masters behind a lot of ZZZ’s darker story threads.

  • They worship the Hollows and a “creator” figure

  • Possibly caused the collapse of the old capital

  • Might have been responsible for kidnapping events, like the giant white hand incident involving Bringer

This is the group that seems to be pulling strings behind the scenes, and we’re finally starting to see their threads unravel.

The Phaethon Siblings’ Past

The twins’ backstory is getting a serious spotlight in this season. We’re going to learn more about:

  • What really happened to them before arriving in New Eridu

  • Why their bond with each other (and the world) is so unique

  • Their training under Yixuan and how that shapes their growth

There’s also the whole “vision of wings” thing that might connect to new exploration tools… or something deeper

ZZZ Season 2 Gameplay Improvements

Season 2 isn’t just bringing new story and zones, the devs are seriously leveling up the way we actually play the game. From smoother navigation to quality-of-life boosts, the whole structure is getting a glow-up.

ZZZ Season 2 Gameplay Improvements

Here’s what’s changing:

New Map & UI Redesign

Say goodbye to the old sliding area selector, we’re finally getting a real map system!

  • A full larger map layout is replacing the old menu-style selection

  • Mini-map and navigation tools are being added for faster movement

  • Players will now get a clear view of New Eridu’s layout, making travel less clunky

This alone is going to make exploring and mission-hopping way smoother.

Integrated Zones – No More Loading Screens

Residential areas and combat zones are being blended together to make exploration feel more natural.

  • Failume Heights is designed with this in mind, it’s bigger and more functional

  • Less loading, more immersion

  • Paths and functional areas are more streamlined

No more jumping in and out of scenes just to get to a mission board.

Suibian Temple – Your New Base with Sim Gameplay

Your new “home base” in Season 2 is the Suibian Temple, and it’s not just set dressing, there’s a whole management side to it.

  • You’ll help restore the temple to its former glory

  • Features a light simulation system (like Bangboo Dispatch)

  • Might replace or rework the current store + movie-pick system

It’s giving low-key Animal Crossing vibes but with Bangboo and Hollow tech.

ZZZ Season 2 Combat Optimizations and Agent Synergy

Combat in ZZZ has always looked flashy, but let’s be real,  it’s mostly been about your main DPS doing all the work. Season 2 is changing that. The devs are pushing for real squad synergy, and non-DPS characters are finally stepping into the spotlight.

ZZZ Season 2 Combat Optimizations and Agent Synergy

Here’s how they’re mixing things up:

Off-field Agents Get to Shine

Support and utility characters are getting a much-needed glow-up.

  • Switched-out agents will still contribute in combat, visually and mechanically

  • They’ll show up with effects, buffs, or attacks even while off-field

  • Astra and Evelyn are early examples of this with their ongoing effects and triggers

It’s no longer just about who’s on-screen, now everyone’s working as a unit.

New Enemy Mechanics

Enemies are getting smarter and a bit trickier, but in a good way.

  • Certain enemies will have specific counter mechanics

  • You’ll need to swap between agents and time assists more carefully

  • Some areas may give enemies conditional boosts that force you to change your approach

We’ve already seen hints of this in fights like Hugo or Red Tython,  now it's becoming a real system.

Synergy First, Damage Second

The focus is shifting from raw stats to team coordination and visual flow.

  • Combos will feel more cinematic and cooperative

  • Off-field skills will matter more than ever

  • New builds might be designed around synergy, not just burst damage

You’ll still want a strong DPS, but expect more variety in team roles, especially if buffs, debuffs, and unique triggers become core to battle plans.

Events, Hangouts, and Slice of Life Content

Season 2 isn’t all about intense battles and heavy lore, we’re also getting a chill side to balance things out. The devs are expanding the kind of content we can enjoy during downtime, and it looks like daily life in New Eridu is about to get way more lively

Events, Hangouts, and Slices of Life Content

Here’s what’s coming:

New Event Modes (With Bangboo Chaos)

Classic ZZZ-style minigames are getting a refresh, plus a few wild new ones are on the way.

New Event Modes (With Bangboo Chaos)

  • Expect returns or upgrades to modes like Bangboo vs. Ethereal, and possibly a “Fall Guys”-style platformer

  • You might even get to control a giant Bangboo in combat (yes, seriously)

  • More casual duels and quirky challenges on the horizon

It’s still unclear which will be limited-time vs permanent, but the devs seem to love these fun side events, and players do too.

Slice of Life Hangouts

Outside the battlefield, we’re getting more ways to bond with agents in everyday settings.

Slice of Life Hangouts

  • Hotpot hangouts, movie theater scenes, and other light events are planned

  • These help flesh out characters beyond combat

  • Feels more like you're part of their world, not just their commander

We’ve seen hints of this already, like in Lumina Square, but now it’s becoming a core part of the experience.

Character Reworks and Long-Term Value

It’s not just the new agents getting attention in Season 2, the devs are also circling back to give some much-needed love to older characters. Instead of throwing them aside, the plan is to future-proof existing agents and make sure everyone still feels fun and relevant to use.

Character Reworks and Long-Term Value

Here’s what’s changing:

Strategic Reworks, Not Just Buffs

Rather than blindly boosting numbers, the devs are focusing on enhancing what makes each character unique.

  • Kits will be tweaked to better match their intended roles and gameplay feel

  • Some agents may get new effects or skill adjustments to make them more impactful

  • Think “redefined identity,” not just “more damage”

Example: Instead of slapping a 20% ATK buff on someone, they might redesign how their debuff works or add synergy with newer mechanics like Aftershock.

Compatibility with Future Mechanics

Reworks aren’t just for now, they’re being designed with long-term synergy in mind.

  • Future agents and systems are being considered when adjusting old kits

  • Certain abilities might seem underwhelming now but are actually teasers for what’s coming

  • This opens the door for more creative team comps and layered gameplay

We’re already seeing glimpses of this with Lost Void gear, some of those experimental moves might end up sticking around in future reworks.

Deeper Character Involvement in the Story

The updates go beyond just gameplay. Older agents are also getting more screen time and narrative relevance.

  • Recent updates focused on characters like Lon, Hugo, and Soldier 11

  • We’re seeing more backstories tied into main plotlines and events

  • Even side agents like Billy or Seth’s brother are being teased for future story roles

The goal is to make every agent feel like they belong, not just on your team, but in the world. The goal seems to be making every agent feel like they truly belong, not just on your team, but in the overall universe. That said, how usable they are still depends on how far you've invested in building them. And yeah, that means a ton of mats.

Deeper Character Involvement in the Story

Luckily, OSLink has made farming way less painful. Once you've got the game set up on an LDPlayer instance, you can use the OSLink auto-clicker feature to record your actions, starting from initiating combat right after you exit the stage.

Deeper Character Involvement in the Story

Just loop that recording, let it run, and your stamina gets used up as it builds. No more grinding stress.

Conclusion

With new regions like Waifei Peninsula, faction spotlights that expand the lore, and core gameplay upgrades that improve how we experience the world, Season 2 marks a bold step toward Version 2.0 and beyond. And if you want to keep up with all this fresh content without burning out, OSLink's auto features make grinding easier than ever. From farming mats to managing multiple accounts, it's the perfect tool to prep your squad for the big changes ahead.
